BMW just unveiled the 2026 BMW i7 at the Beijing Auto Show (April 22, 2026), and it’s being called the most extensive model update in the 7 Series’ nearly 50-year history. This isn’t a minor refresh, it’s the first luxury sedan to bring pioneering Neue Klasse technologies into BMW’s flagship lineup, blending next-gen EV innovation with signature BMW luxury and presence. Production starts July 2026 and starting at $106,200 this is the most BMW flagship sedan yet.

The i7’s exterior embraces Neue Klasse design principles: a more monolithic, cleaner silhouette replaces the complex surfacing of the outgoing car. New 22-inch wheels are available for the first time straight from the factory, and buyers can choose BMW Individual Dual-Finish two-tone paint, a world-first option that adds serious personalization flair.

Inside, the 2026 i7 turns the back seat into a rolling lounge. The available 31.3-inch BMW Theatre Screen delivers up to 8K resolution, 5G connectivity, and built-in Amazon Fire TV for movies, gaming, and video calls. A Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system (with Dolby Atmos) is available, while 5.5-inch rear-door touchscreens control climate, seats, and infotainment. Up front, the new Panoramic iDrive interface and standard Passenger Screen keep the driver and front passenger fully connected with improved BMW Maps, seamless phone integration, and over-the-air updates.
BMW offers the 2026 i7 in three trims tailored for U.S. buyers:
All use sixth-generation BMW eDrive with Gen6 cylindrical battery cells for better efficiency and faster NACS charging. WLTP energy consumption for the xDrive60 is rated at 21.9–18.2 kWh/100 km.
BMW significantly cut lifecycle CO₂ emissions with Gen6 battery cells, high recycled-content aluminum wheels (up to 70% secondary aluminum), and renewable energy at the Dingolfing, Germany plant where every i7 is built.
